Republicans lost control of the State Senate after their leadership urged a $4 billion tax increase, more than double the $1.36 billion Democrat Mark Warner had sought. We can’t win back Congress by outspending the Democrats at any level. As some Republicans were voting to raise taxes in the General Assembly, School Board Member and then Supervisor Ken Boyd used his financial and budgeting background to fight Democrat efforts to raise taxes and increase spending. He helped facilitate bringing over 1,000 high paying jobs to the district, despite opposition from anti-military Democrats.

The last thing we need is Washington DC Republicans telling 5th District Republicans what they need to do to win elections. He has come up with practical solutions as a member of the Albemarle County Fire Rescue Advisory Board (ACFRAB), the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority (RSWA) and Computers4Kids Board.

Republicans lost control of the State Senate after passing the creation of illegal local taxing authorities that had the power to raise taxes on families and businesses. Ken Boyd was the first and ONLY member of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors to oppose giving unelected authorities the ability to tax the people. Ken believes there can be no taxation without representation.
